Features

Descripción

Closed circuit tunnel, total length 40 m. contraction ratio 3:1. Test chamber: Square section of 2.2 m side and 17 m length for atmospheric boundary layer simulation. More information about this tunnel and the rest of the IDR-UPM tunnels in the link "More information" available at the end of this page.

Speed range

0 - 35 m/s

Test Section

Square section of 2.2 m side and 17 m long for atmospheric boundary layer simulation.

Instrumentation for force and moment measurement

Various balances and load cells from 1 to 6 components to measure forces and moments in a wide range of values, depending on the characteristics of the test.

Instrumentation for pressure measurement

Scanivalve pressure scanner system. Capacity to measure 1250 pressure taps simultaneously, in different pressure ranges, compatible with the tunnel capacities.

Flow velocity measurement instrumentation

Pitot tubes + pressure capsules. Hot wire anemometry system, up to 4 components simultaneously. 1-component LDA system. 2D PIV system. High temporal resolution stereoscopic (3D) IVP system.

Instrumentation for aeroelastic testing

Installation for sectional tests on suspension or cable-stayed bridges, wing profiles, solar trackers, etc. Determination of critical velocities (VIV and flutter) and stability derivatives by measuring the response with a laser distance meter (8 instruments of this type are available).

Atmospheric boundary layer simulation capability

Simulation of atmospheric boundary layer according to wind standards (Eurocode and ASCE).

Minimum turbulence intensity(%)

1.5% (reducible to 0.5%)

Flow visualization methods

Smoke generation and injection system with pole.

Tunnel test model building capability

Workshops, personnel and tools to design, build and instrument any type of model.

Certifications
