Clean Aviation, the European Union’s leading research and innovation programme that aims to transform aviation towards climate neutrality and sustainability, will launch its third programme call in February 2025.
The EU will provide up to 380 million euros to support projects for the decarbonisation of aviation. Projects on the following research topics are eligible for funding:
- Evaluation of aircraft concepts, integration and impact (ACI&I)
- Ultra-efficient aircraft architectures for short to medium range (SMR)
- Ultra-efficient regional aircraft architectures (REG)
The new Fast Track Areas (FTAs) initiative is to be funded with 15 million euros and is intended to help accelerate research into effective technologies. Priority will be given to projects that are closely linked to the SMR and REG projects, and the participation of universities, research centres and SMEs is welcomed. The focus will be on solutions that address the most pressing challenges in decarbonising the aviation sector.

- 5 December 2024: Pre-publication of the topic lists
- 30. January 2025: Pre-publication of the topic descriptions
- 13. February 2025: On-site brokerage event
- End of February 2025: Publication of the call for proposals
- 4. March 2025: Online information day
